Did meeting in Estonia fulfill your reason for attending?
Yes it did! I have become familiar with the specific features of Estonia, its size and educational policy, including ICT efforts and the Tiigrihüuppe program. Follow-up will take place im March 2009 with a videoconference between Tiigrihüuppe Office and rouen University through a "virtual tour" of E.U best practice sites.

What was the most interesting for you?
Apart from the necessary data about context, I think school visits were most interesting. Opportunities to exchange with teachers and students alike (of all ages) was especially rewarding:

What do you think about Estonia?
A small and dynamic country whose population is bent on making the best of European opportunities through ICT and international projects so that the young people of Estonia get a fair share in the job market. The focus on the importance of top-quality education and training among all the people we have met in Tallinn was particularly impressive. Thanks to the host and the people who assisted Pille.

Yes I did, mainly to have the opportunity to visit schools and meet with teachers and people who developed there his work and how they are in ICT teaching and making the teaching tramite.

May be that the most interesting item that I saw here is he Tiger Leap foundation because this represent a new way to increase actually the teacher work using ICT without that means a lot of time for them.

I think that Estonia is a small country with a big disease to developed itself like a modern and pioneer society and I think that the it making that in the right direction.

1- Yes, I am satisfy about what we did during this meting, and I hope I could inspire of what I saw here to do in France.

2- The most interesting for me was eKool, Tiger foundation and the visit in school.

3- I think that it is easier to develop ICT in Estonia than in France because these country is smaller and politics make a lot of concrete thing to help ICT.

Thanks a lot and see you.

1. The meeting fulfill all my hopes and was very good.
2. Most interesting was possibility to know how the e-school works in practice. You have created a very good system for all kind of administration and a good way to hold school.
3. Estonia is very beautiful country. I have been here before but now I know more about your good school system and society. Estonia is a good example for all of us. We finns love estonian people because of language relation an many other reasons.

Patricia Pausenberger Summary

Did meeting in Estonia fulfill your reason for attending?

Yes it did. The different backgrounds of the members in the group was a good basic to discuss all themes related to visit in education in Estonia. Their education system is different from Flanders in structure and organiation en it seems that schools are well equiped when it comes to ICT. Important is that schools have an educational technologist beside the ict-coördinator(s).

What is the most interesting for you?
Tiger leap en Eurotiger;
E-skool
The system of e-skool could be intresting in a European context to make student information exchangeable in case of migration,...etc.
The fact that teachers coöperate better in about subject matters installing an electronic school and that textbooks get less important although reading texts offline is still important.
Some schools in their ict-policy decide with the whole team about ict matters. Important argument for the use of smartboards in classes of the youngest pupils so that there knowlegde can grow during their total schoolcareer;
In the years for students from 16-18 year learning to programm is possible but few are talented at last 8guidance comes from university (a kind of coöperation)

What do you think about Estonia?

Development of the integration of ICT in schoolpractice has a good pace.
Estonished about the fact that all parents have access to the internet to use e-skool.
An important difference with the Flemish education system is that students and parents make a choice for studiecareer at the age of !6 YEAR.

Vincent Summary

1. Did meeting in Estonia fulfill your reason for attending?

I had a range of things which I wanted to find out about in Estonia both educational and cultural.

Education:

In educational terms I think thank most of my objectives were achieved.

  • · I learned of the new ways/techniques that the Estonian education systems was pioneering.
  • · I made new contacts for more commenius and learnardo projects
  • · I gained a greater insight into the teaching systems in the rest of Europe.

Cultural:

· I found the Estonian culture extreamly rich and fully expressed.

  • · Estonian singing is lovely and the dance both similar and yet different to what I would have learned as a boy.
  • · I felt that it would have been good to have visited a Russian school as they make up 35 % of the population of Estonia.

2. What was the most interesting for you?

I found the history of Estonia fascinating as much as I tried to understand it all before coming it is only when you are in a country can one get a true insight into a country's history.

3. What do you think about Estonia?

I liked found Estonia to be a fascinating and complex country. It is full of traditional building and a love of the past yet the people are always considering how to embrace new technology and new methods into their daily lives.

Mirjam, Summary

1. Did meeting in Estonia fulfill your reason for attending?

Yes, mostly it did. I´m very much interested in ICT, of its use, how to implement it in the classes and how to learn (or better to "persuade") teachers to use more ICT. Even though I expected more practical lessons, how to make the contents, what we can do with programs that are available online, etc.

2. What was the most interesting for you?

One of the most interesting things was introduction to wikis and together with that the programs you can use to make interactive contents.
eKool was also interesting, since we have something like that in our school, but not really on national level. Good to see, how everything is connected in one big network and itś working :)
Also the e-exams were interesting since the students can do it at home as well (in the limit amount of time).

3. What do you think about Estonia?

It was my first time in the north of Europe and I liked Tallinn very much. The city is a lot like Ljubljana - old town with streets and a great view. I didn´t know much about history - just some general things (like that it was under SU, ...) so it was nice to learn something new also to see some traditional folk dances, a little theater scene in the restaurant.
People are really nice, they speak english very good (I think that goes for all small countries), so I think I´m comming back again to explore the rest of the Estonia :)

1. Did meeting in Estonia fulfill your reason for attending?

The study visit was interesting and it was useful to see some examples of Best practice in Estonia, especially the tiger leap, as i was interested in the international collaboration projects that had been established for the "anim tiger", .

It was also interesting to find out information on Educational freesoftware, that was provided by the ICT coordinator from the Gustav Adolf Grammar Ingrid Maadvere some of the sources (education freesoftware.com) that had been provided offered links to a variety of free downloadable software that could be used in my college in many subject areas.

Also it was interesting to see the use of the Eschool this was a good practice as it integrated good communication networks for parents so that they could easily access student progress.

Moodle also with the variety of elearning content and template function was beneficial

However i had been interested in developing a leonardo project idea in the area of sharing practice on multimedia such as graphic design, web design, art and animation in the ICT area although this is more of a vocational area.

2. What was the most interesting for you?

The Tiger leap project ´this collaborative website promoting elearning in artistic ways such as combining mutlimedia in a central portal was useful.

The ICT Collaboration sharing of information on Opensource software.

The Toondoo comic books, this interactive comic book site was extremely interesting especially as a means of narrative image making and conveying an idea visually, this would complement the curriculum and part of my course development and as part of teaching

It was very good to meet such a wealth of people of diverse backgrounds and learn information about different approaches to ICT, learning, and levels of education processes.

3. What do you think about Estonia?

Estonia was fascinating, both in terms of the culture and also the food, architecture and the friendlness of the people. It was beautiful in the old town overall and especially good to have a guided tour of some of the main focal points in the town. We had been given plenty of information about the history and also the education process. Lots of good use of ICT in some of the schools and was impressive to see that alot of the young students could speak english very well. Overall a most enjoyable experience with many new things learnt.
